This idea for this show came while working at KSTM (The Storm) when I first discovered there were more Rock N Roll Christmas songs then I was aware of, as picked out by Jeff Parets, the program director of this legendary Phoenix area station. A Rock N Roll Christmas first aired in 1988 on Phoenix radio on KSLX and also KDKB and KZON (the Zone) and then back to KSLX and then on Radio Free Phoenix! Join Us at 6pm, this Christmas Eve through Christmas night at 12 midnight (AZ-Mountain Time).

Join us for The Angry Arizonan 1K Special on Radio Free Phoenix this Saturday, June 4th at 3pm, and an encore on Sunday, June 5th at 12 noon (AZ-PST). This 1 hour Retrospective features The Angry Arizonan himself, Ben Tyler, and celebrates 1,000 episodes of the Angry Arizonan. Ben is a renown Arizona playwright, actor and creator and voice of The Angry Arizonan, which has been airing on Radio Free Phoenix since February 22, 2016. The Angry Arizonan is take off of a feature that aired on KRIZ in Phoenix back in 1970 called Joe Nasty (which itself, was a parody of Paul Harvey). Ben’s version evolved out of a character called “The Angry American” that he played on the Wallace & Ladmo Show on KPHO TV, (Channel 5) in Phoenix in the 80’s. Ben was also member of the comedy troupe, The Ajo Repratory Company, which were regulars on the show for several year. So fasten your seat-belts for ‘The Angry Arizonan 1K” this Saturday & Sunday on Radio Free Phoenix!

Join us this Saturday, May 28th at 3pm and Sunday, May 29th at 12 pm (Arizona-Pacific time) for Radio Freedom, our Guest DJ show. Our guest host will be Suzanne Picerno of Indianapolis, Indiana. Suzanne is a hearing specialist and lost her hearing over a 30 year period of time and went deaf. She received cochlear implants 3 years ago and can now hear music again! Join Suzanne for her 15 favorite songs on Radio Freedom this Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 12 noon on Radio Free Phoenix!

Suzanne is also an author and has written a children’s book called “Eddie the Elephant’s Magical Ear”, which will be released on August 28th. More Info HERE

Join Radio Free Phoenix, Tuesday at 10 am & Thursday at 4pm for a Music & Interview Special with Paul Riopelle in Celebration of the Music of his Dad, Jerry Riopelle. Jerry’s Musical Legacy lives on this Friday, May 6th at 8pm at the Talking Stick Resort Showroom . Andy Olson will be talking with Paul about the upcoming show and will be playing a bunch of Jerry’s music. This show on Friday will feature the Jerry Riopelle band (with David Plenn, Llory McDonald, Paul Riopelle, Tara Austin, David Goodstein and John Harris) and some very special guests, including Chris Price, Jesse Valenzuela of Gin Blossoms, Walt Richardson, Ray Herndon, Michael Nitro, Mark Zubia, Chuck E. Baby, The Motion and more, plus as many Riopelle songs that can fit into one show! So many Arizona fans grew up with Jerry Riopelle’s music and spent many New Years Eve at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix ringing in the new year with Jerry & his Band.

That star of Stage, Screen & Radio, the legendary Pat McMahon (of The Wallace & Ladmo Show) pays a visit to Radio Free Phoenix! We will be taking with Pat about his legendary career as a DJ & Program Director on Phoenix Rock Station KRIZ in the 60’s. This two hour special airs Saturday, November 13th from 3pm – 5pm (AZ-Mountain Time), and an encore, Sunday, Noon to 2pm. Pat will be talking about his days at KRIZ, Hub Kapp & The Wheels, Mike Condello, Wallace & Ladmo, meeting Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Alice Cooper, Kenny Rogers, Mama Cass Elliot and so many other artists back in the 60’s and early 70’s!

This Saturday at 2pm (AZ-Pacific) time, join Andy Olson for a Music & Interview Special with singer-songwriter, John Hall. John is best know as the leader of the band Orleans (Dance with Me & Still The One) and also as a solo artist for the songs “Power” & “I Told You So”. He also served as a U.S. Congressman from New York for two terms (2007-2011). John wrote with Johanna Hall, “Half Moon” for Janis Joplin. In addition to reuniting with Orleans for a June tour, he has a new solo album coming out this Friday called “Reclaiming My Time.” Andy will be talking with John about his start in music with his first band, Kangaroo, his early solo carrier & the formation of Orleans. Listen in as we will be playing songs from all phases of his career including many from his new album, “Reclaiming My Time.” This show will also air in an encore presentation, Sunday at 12 noon (AZ-Pacific time)
