This past Saturday Ray Bowen passed away. Ray was a professional photographer, a good friend and the husband of Mariah Fleming who worked with RFP during the first several years of the station and also on Deep Oldies. In memory of Ray we will be re-airing his Radio Freedom show from 2005 this Saturday at 2pm and the encore on Sunday at 12 noon (AZ-PST)
Ray empowered others, uplifted others, saw potential in others. Ray found the good in others.
He was so multitalented. Ray was a wealth of musical knowledge. He could tell you the most interesting little known facts about artists & groups. His influence shaped my choices in music all my life.
In our 56 year friendship I never heard him be ugly.
I’m sorry now that I lost touch with Ray after I had worked with him in the early 90s. He recorded some CDs for me, including Fairport Convention and John Martyn, and I made some CDs for him. Always a super pleasant guy.
