Monthly Archives: October 2025

As Dr, Demento just retired after 50 years (His final show aired on October 11, 2025), I thought I would post my two comedy pieces that were aired on the Dr. Demento Show.

It was back on February 12, 1982 that I sat in the back of my 1957 Ford Panel Truck to listen to The Psychedelic Baby Box as it played on Dr. Demento (I was on my lunch break at work). At the time (before I landed my first radio job), I worked at a plastic pipe factory in south Phoenix. It was a grueling job, but also very creative for me, as I would write in my head these vignettes that I would call “Commercialtoons”. As soon as I had each one plotted out, I would quickly write it down on paper, and when the workday was over, I would leave satisfied that I created something on this day. I would then record these Commercialtoons in my 4 track recording studio in the basement of my home in east Phoenix.

Here is the first one that aired, the Psychedelic Baby Box that featured my daughter, Heather (when she was a baby).

My second submission to the Dr. Demento Show was in 1995 when I was working at KZON (101.5 The Zone) in Phoenix. At the time, KZON was airing the Dr. Demento show. The good doctor sent me a letter and a CD copy of the show. This one is called Cellular Sam (a lawyer that would run people off the road while on his cell phone and then offer to sue the pants off the person that hit them!
