Mike McCoy – Saturday 6-10am

Every Saturday morning from 6-10 pm, Join Mike McCoy on Radio Free Phoenix. Mike is a radio veteran with a life long passion for music.

This from Mike:

I grew up in the hallways of KRUX, immersed in the world of rock and roll from a young age. My father, Al McCoy, was a towering figure in Phoenix broadcasting, best known for his 51-year career as the voice of the Suns. But what a lot of people don’t know is that he was also the first to give Bill Compton a shot in Phoenix radio, hiring him at KRUX, where Bill launched an underground show on Sunday nights. That moment helped shape the future of free-form rock radio in the Valley.

Bill went on to do big things. So did my dad. And so did I. With a 50+ year career in radio, I’ve traveled the country, but I’m back where I belong—in the Valley, on the air, bringing back radio that actually makes a difference.

With my wife, Tonya, our dog, Grace, and family close by, life is good. Being part of Radio Free Phoenix brings it all full circle—playin deep tracks that never make it on corporate playlists. 20 years of being commercial-free and volunteer-operated all by people who get it.

I also host Choice Cuts every Saturday morning around 9:10 (AZ time), featuring five brand-new songs airing for the first time—many from albums that haven’t even dropped yet.
