Nearly 20 years after his death The life and legacy of Frank Sinatra continues unveil itself throughout the years as the legacy of this iconic personality lives on. Just 3 years ago Sinatra was celebrated all year long to mark what would had been his 100th birthday with celebrity specials and more. After nearly two decades since Sinatra had left his world on a string, so to speak, Sinatra is even more revered by generations of new and old.

Sinatra was a true multimedia giant as an entertainer of film and song through his diverse music catalogue that spanned 6 decades. It’s this legacy that had him heralded as the voice of the century in popular music. As the years pass, we continue to remember the cultural and iconic who called out bigotry and promoted civil rights when it wasn’t cool, pacing way for great minority entertainers, backing political figures and teaching us about love and limitless through his impeccable phrasing that truly voiced a generation through popular music that’s heard at weddings funerals and with a glass of wine at the dinner table. It’s that voice that today, even after a generation has passed, that we understand more about the personal Sinatra who did great for the common good of mankind often in anonymity.

In the latest documentary by director Leo Zahn, Sinatra Palm Springs,  The Place He Called Home’, explores Frank Sinatra’s deep attachment to Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley, his primary home for almost 50 years. The film encapsulates the essence of the Sinatra era while pay homage to the unique lifestyle of Sinatra’s Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage; you”ll learn the amazing contributions Sinatra made a legacy that’s still felt, heard, and seen today.

Since its initial screening in February of this year, the film has earned roaring praise to sell out crowd of all ages, most recently premiering at this Phoenix Film Festival earlier this month. We had a chance to chat with The director of Sinatra Palm Springs, Leo Zahn on his film.

As our World continuously becomes more advances and mobile, quite literally in fact does the imagery seen through that of popular media publications, video, photos, websites, many times to a point of sensory overload.

With a click of button, all of our news from friends to trending news surrounding topics of one’s interest is available at the click of touch, sometime more by chance than selection.  Throughout modern history, the media has molded and displayed what should be accepted or deemed as acceptable when it comes to the products we purchase and to the very detail of how we should appear. When you pair the focus brought upon by fashion magazines, images of public figures that’s utilized to sell products, draws pressure on one’s self image and confidence.

More than ever, children starting from a young age have access to so much imagery as social serves as the quickest and most engaging way for impressional and becoming young adults to communicate among their appears. With so much at youngsters’ hands these days, it’s easy to become quite fixated and comparing yourself to the ideal portrayed by the media and friends alike.

According to 3 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services 91% of women are unhappy with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Unfortunately, only 5% of women naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media.

One fashion model is on a quest to remove the stigmas and spread the love to for woman all of ages, shapes and size to be proud in their skin, each in their very own unique way.

 

New York-based fashion model, Charli Howard is no stranger to embracing her body “When I moved to New York from England, I discovered the world of plus size modeling.. these girls seemed so happy” she says, which allowed Howard, 26, to become more comfortable in her skin not only as a model but as a person. Her experiences in the fashion world led her to team up with a fellow model, Clémentine Desseaux form the All Woman Project

A “501-c foundation aiming to better the life of girls and women worldwide by displaying a true, beautiful, positive and un-retouched image of women in photo and video campaigns throughout the year. The AWP is also taking actions where body image and self-esteem is the most challenging, in schools, by organizing events, workshops and meetings with school girls form elementary schools to college. Providing girls with role-models and inspirations is how we plan on giving them the strength and self-esteem they need to be the strong women We believe greatness starts with self-love and we’re dedicated to make every little girl convinced that she can do anything, regardless of her background or her body.”

 

Along with their strong message for women and so many to be proud of their bodies,  The All Woman Project gives voice to so many to embrace every bit of their bodies!

We spoke with the ever multi-talented, singer, songwriter, Beth Rowley.

The Bristol based musician has been deeply ingrained in the music scene expressing sultry styles off blues, jazz, and gospel inspired songs that have garnered Rowley great acclaim attention

Rowley began her career upon teaming up with Jazz saxophonist Ben well known for his work with another fellow UK based musician, Jamie Cullum.

Rowley has released three successful EPs, Beth Rowley (2004), Sweet Hours (2006) and Violets (2007).[ From the Violets EP she released a single entitled, ‘Nobody’s Fault But Mine’ which was the iTunes ‘Single of the Week’ for December 2007.

In addition to her solo outputs Rowley has collaborated with other artists and bands, including Crowded House on their Time on Earth album providing backing vocals for the song “Transit Lounge” and Duke Special, who joined her for a duet on her début album, Little Dreamer released in 2008.

The release went straight into the UK album charts at number 6. On 4 February 2008, the lead single, “Oh My Life”(released on 3 March 2008) from the forthcoming album was featured as ‘BBC Radio 2 Record of the Week.

In January 2009, Rowley was nominated for a Brit Award in the category for Best British Female Solo Artist.

Among numerous highlight, Ms. Rowley gained even further attention

Rowley featured in the nightclub scene in the Academy Award Nominated 2009 film An Education, directed by Lone Scherfig.

Her track, “You Got Me Wrapped Around Your Little Finger”, is featured prominently in the official movie soundtrack and the Sony Classics promotional website. She also recorded a cover of the standard, Sunday Kind of Love, which was also featured in the film’s soundtrack.

Her most recently release from Beth came with new music material, she released EP “Wretched Body”. This first part of planned 3-piece EP series includes 4 songs.

Since then, Beth has just capped off a UK based tour as she plans to finish off a new studio album set to be released by September of this year to which we spoke about her upcoming collaboration and current projects set to be released!
